According to the reports, the play was momentarily delayed because the third umpire, Richard Illingworth, encountered an unexpected situation-he got stuck in a lift. This unforeseen circumstance left everyone at the stadium, including the players and on-field umpires, amused as they learned that Illingworth was unable to reach his cabin promptly, causing a brief pause in the proceedings.

The incident happened in the post-lunch session. Cricket Australia confirmed this unusual incident on their official X handle. "The game is delayed because the third umpire ... is stuck in the lift #AUSvPAK," Cricket Australia said in a post while sharing the picture of the third umpire's empty chair and on-filed umpires waiting for him.
