AUS vs PAK 1st ODI: Babar Azam Fails Again, Scores Only 37 Runs At MCG

Babar Azam, who returned to Pakistan's national side after being dropped from the Test series against England, scored 37 runs in the 1st ODI between Pakistan and Australia. The match was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 4. Babar's innings included four boundaries before Adam Zampa dismissed him, disrupting his momentum.

He took time at the start and when the team started expecting good runs from him, Babar started walking back towards the pavilion.

Pakistan faced early setbacks after choosing to bat first. Saim Ayub, making his ODI debut, was dismissed for just one run by Mitchell Starc. Abdullah Shafique also fell cheaply, putting pressure on the team. However, Babar Azam steadied the innings with some impressive shots.

Babar's Performance and Partnership

The 30-year-old Babar initially focused on singles but soon found his rhythm. He hit his first boundary with an on-drive off Pat Cummins and followed it with another through the off-side in the same over. His innings gained momentum as he pulled Mitchell Starc for a four in the 11th over and cut Sean Abbott through third man for another boundary in the 16th over.

Babar formed a crucial partnership with Mohammad Rizwan, adding 39 runs for the third wicket. Rizwan is now leading Pakistan's white-ball team as captain. Unfortunately, Babar's stay was cut short when Zampa bowled him in the 18th over, leaving Pakistan at 63 for three wickets in 17.4 overs.

Expectations for Upcoming Matches

Despite his dismissal, Babar's performance showed promise for future matches. With two more ODIs scheduled in Adelaide and Perth, expectations are high for him to deliver significant scores and contribute to Pakistan's success.

Babar attempted to play a flick shot off Zampa but misjudged the length and saw his stumps disturbed. This dismissal highlighted a momentary lapse in concentration during an otherwise steady innings.

As Babar looks forward to upcoming games, fans hope he will regain his form and secure his place back in the national Test team. His ability to anchor innings will be crucial for Pakistan's chances against Australia.
