Afghanistan Pacer Naveen Ul Haq Shares A Video To Clarify On Gulbadin Naib 'Fake Injury' Controversy

Cheating or strategy! Social media users on Wednesday looked divided after Afghanistan pacer Naveen Ul Haq shared a humorous video to mock Australia and purportedly accept that Gulbadin Naib faked a hamstring injury to waste time during the crucial Afghanistan vs Bangladesh match. Naveen's video is a humorous clip from India's comedy film 'Welcome' featuring Akshay Kumar and Mushtaq, in which, a man (Ballu) fakes that he has a broken leg and can't even walk properly.

It was alleged that Afghanistan players intentionally wasted time after their coach Jonathan Trott signalled to slow down the game, which put them ahead according to the DLS method.

A viral video from Afghanistan vs Bangladesh match stunned everyone when Trott signalled and Naib immediately fell ground. Reacting to the incident, many people on social media called Gulbadin Naib an actor who deserves an Oscar award.

While, many people backed the act calling it a strategy and presence of mind of the cricketer.

The Rashid Khan-led side emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter and this was the first time ever that they ever reached the semi-finals of an International Cricket Council (ICC) competition.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that International Cricket Council (ICC) may take cognizance of the matter and slap charges for wasting time according to the code of conduct Level One or Level Two offence. It is expected that the cricket governing body may also award a hefty fine of 100 per cent of the match fees or add two suspension points.
