Abhishek Sharma Will Not Play Today's India vs Namibia T20 World Cup At Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium

India have been dealt a confirmed setback ahead of their T20 World Cup Group A fixture, with Abhishek Sharma ruled out of today's match against Namibia.

The development became clear after Team India stepped onto the field at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi for their pre-match warm-up. While Abhishek was present at the ground, he did not join the squad for practice drills.

Present But Not Participating

Observers at the stadium noted that the 25-year-old opener was not wearing his practice kit and stayed away from the main group throughout the session. Instead of taking part in batting or catching practice, Abhishek was seen taking a light walk near the boundary ropes and spending time looking closely at the pitch.

The rest of the squad went through an intense routine, including batting sessions in the nets and high-catching drills, signalling full preparation for the Namibia encounter.

Abhishek's absence from active training effectively confirms that he will not feature in today's playing XI.

Blow To India's Batting Plans

The world's top-ranked T20I batter had been hospitalised earlier this week with a stomach infection, casting doubt over his availability. Though he has since been discharged, he has not regained full fitness.

His absence forces India to reshuffle their top order for the Namibia clash, with team management likely to bring in a replacement opener to partner Ishan Kishan.

With a high-profile match against Pakistan later in the tournament, India appear to be taking a cautious approach, prioritising Abhishek Sharma's recovery over short-term risk.
