BCCI Likely To Offer Another Two-Year Contract To Rahul Dravid

The BCCI is likely to offer another two-year contract to Rahul Dravid, who has had a good record in the past two years.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to offer another two-year contract to Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. The decision was made after Dravid's successful tenure as coach, which saw India finish runners-up in both the World Test Championship (WTC) and the ODI World Cup.

BCCI Wants Dravid to Guide Team During Tour of South Africa

Rahul Dravid

As of now, the BCCI wants Dravid to guide the team during the upcoming tour of South Africa. The modalities of the new contract are still being worked out, but the BCCI is keen to have Dravid continue as head coach to provide continuity to the senior team.

Dravid Yet to Sign New Contract

Dravid has not yet signed a new contract, but the BCCI is hopeful that he will agree to the terms. The Test series in South Africa is considered important, and even if Dravid doesn't go for the T20I series, he could join the team from the ODIs.

VVS Laxman May Coach Team During First Phase of Series

In case Dravid is unable to go to South Africa, VVS Laxman may coach the team during the first phase of the series. This would also allow Laxman to have a first-hand measure of the 'A' team.

Dravid Has Multiple Offers from IPL Franchises

Dravid has multiple offers to become Team Director/Team Mentor from IPL franchises, which offer hefty money with much lesser involvement. However, he may also weigh in on the good work produced by his team, which also involves batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip.

Nature of Dravid's Tenure Extension

It would be interesting to see the nature of Dravid's tenure extension, whether it will be for a year keeping the next T20 World Cup in mind or till 2025, which covers the entire on-going WTC cycle and the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan for now.

The BCCI is likely to make a final decision on Dravid's contract extension after the tour of South Africa.
