Early Beginnings
Born on July 16, 2003, Aman Sehrawat grew up in Birohar, a small village in Haryana's Jhajjar district. His early years were marked by a deep interest in mud wrestling, a passion that began in the challenging environment of his village. Birohar faces significant hardships, including frequent power outages and a lack of potable water, with residents relying on tube wells located about 500 meters away for clean drinking water, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Sehrawat's life took a pivotal turn at the age of 10, inspired by Sushil Kumar's bronze medal victory at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This motivation led him to pursue wrestling more seriously, and he enrolled at the prestigious Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi, known for its legendary wrestlers.
Tragedy struck early in Sehrawat's life when he lost both of his parents at the age of 11. His mother died by suicide due to mental health struggles, and his father, a former tractor mechanic turned farmer, passed away a few months later. Following their deaths, Sehrawat and his younger sister, Puja, were taken in by their uncle, Sudhir Sehrawat. Sudhir revealed in an interview with Hindustan Times that Aman struggled with depression and considered drug use after his mother's death. However, his fortunes began to change with his training at Chhatrasal Stadium.
