AIFF Launches Benevolence Fund for One-Time Medical Grants to Ex-Players and Coaches
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has reaffirmed its plan to establish a Benevolence Fund aimed at offering one-time medical grants to former players, coaches, referees, match officials, and support staff. A special committee will be set up to assess applications individually. AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey has personally contributed Rs 1,00,000 to this fund, highlighting the initiative as a humanitarian effort to honour those who have dedicated their lives to Indian football.

Benevolence Fund and Financial Contributions
The AIFF will initially contribute Rs 5,00,000 to the Benevolence Fund. The terms for granting these funds will be determined by relevant committees. Additionally, the federation plans to explore various methods to expand the fund over time. This includes organising charity matches and seeking support from other potential revenue sources and partnerships.
Proposed Pension Fund for Long-Serving Employees
Alongside the Benevolence Fund, Chaubey has suggested creating a Pension Fund for AIFF employees who have served for at least 20 years and retired at or after the age of 60. This proposal aims to provide financial security for long-serving members of the organisation.
Finance Committee's Role and New Initiatives
On Tuesday, the AIFF's Finance Committee convened to approve the opening of new bank accounts specifically for the Benevolence and Pension Funds. The committee, led by Menla Ethenpa, also reviewed the financial accounts for the 2024-25 fiscal year and forwarded them for auditing. Furthermore, they proposed a new procurement policy that will be presented to the Executive Committee for approval in their upcoming meeting.
The AIFF's initiatives reflect a commitment to supporting those who have contributed significantly to Indian football. By establishing these funds and exploring ways to enhance them, the federation aims to provide meaningful assistance and recognition to its community members.
