New Delhi, Oct 15: Afghanistan's historic win over England in the ongoing Cricket World Cup has sent shockwaves through the cricketing world. The team's fighting spirit and resilience have captured the imagination of fans around the globe, but their journey to the top has been far from easy.

Ravaged by years of wars and internal conflicts, Afghanistan's cricket team has faced numerous challenges. However, they received a helping hand from the sports behemoth, India, which played a massive role in the rapid rise of the game in the strife-torn nation.

The Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida became a temporary home-ground for the team in 2015 with BCCI lending a helping hand. They had shifted base to Noida from Sharjah and even played home international matches against Ireland in Greater Noida in 2017.

Afghanistan had also hosted a Twenty20 series against Bangladesh in Dehradun. Besides, former India players Lalchand Rajput and Manoj Prabhakar have coached the Afghanistan team, the latter as bowling coach.

From Refugee Camps to World Cup Glory

Afghanistan cricketers trained a lot in Pakistan in their formative years and some of them even picked up the sport in refugee camps on the other side of the border. The team from the war-ravaged nation even made its T20 and ODI debut against Pakistan.

Despite the challenges, Afghanistan's cricket team has shown remarkable resilience and determination. Their historic win over England is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players, coaches, and support staff.

Afghanistan's journey to the top of the cricketing world is an inspiration to us all. It shows us that no matter the obstacles, anything is possible with hard work, dedication, and a never-give-up attitude. The team's success is a beacon of hope for the people of Afghanistan and a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
