Andhra Pradesh CM Kicks Off Aadudam Andhra Sports Tournament
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated Aadudam Andhra, a 47-day statewide sports tournament, to promote and identify talent in sports like cricket, volleyball, and badminton.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated Aadudam Andhra, a statewide sports tournament, in Guntur on Tuesday, December 26. The 47-day tournament, culminating on February 10, aims to foster and identify talent in various sports, including cricket, volleyball, and badminton.

Promoting Sports and Physical Activity
Addressing a public gathering, Reddy emphasized the significance of the tournament as a milestone event. He envisioned it as a festival-like celebration that would span 47 days and reach villages across the state. The initiative's primary objectives are to encourage physical activity, unearth hidden sporting talent, and combat diseases.
Identifying Talent from Rural Areas
Reddy highlighted the importance of recognizing and nurturing sporting talent from rural areas, which often go unnoticed. He expressed confidence that the competitions, as they progress to the constituency level, would attract collaborations from professional leagues to further develop the identified talent.
Collaborations for Cricket and Badminton
For cricket, the tournament will collaborate with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). In badminton, renowned international players K Srikanth and P V Sindhu will lend their expertise.
Aadudam Andhra as an Annual Event
Reddy announced that Aadudam Andhra would henceforth be an annual event, serving as a platform to promote health awareness and identify sporting talent. An impressive 34 lakh individuals from across the state have registered for the tournament, with an anticipated 87 lakh spectators.
Prize Money and Chief Minister's Participation
The tournament boasts a substantial prize pool of Rs 12 crore. Chief Minister Reddy personally interacted with the participants and examined the sports equipment distributed to them, including cricket bats, leather balls, helmets, wicketkeeper's gloves, volleyballs, and badminton bats.
Amidst enthusiastic cheers from the crowd, Reddy showcased his sporting prowess by hitting a few badminton shots, engaging in a brief volleyball game, and wielding a cricket bat.
Sports Minister's Enthusiasm
Sports Minister R K Roja commended the chief minister's active participation in the sports, which instilled enthusiasm in everyone present.
