Tribal couple hacked to death in Odisha

Baripada (Odisha), Sep 20: A tribal couple was hacked to death allegedly on the suspicion of practising witchcraft at Kathachua Ambadahi village in Mayurbhanj district today.

Hadi Purty (60) and his wife Madei Purty (55) were killed by unidentified assailants in the wee hours when they were asleep, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Udala Suresh Patra said.

One person was detained for interrogation, Patra said, adding that the killing could have taken place on the suspicion of their practising black magic.
