Chhattisgarh's former and first Finance Minister passes away

Raipur, July 20: Ramchandra Singhdeo, former and first Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh, passed away at 1:30 am at a hospital in Raipur on Friday.

Singhdeo, has been known for his bold stand on various issues including relief and rehabilitation of oustees of major dam projects in Madhya Pradesh and other social issues. People regard him as a leader who understands the problems of the common man and is even willing to go against the party line on issues concerning their welfare.

Chhattisgarhs former and first Finance Minister passes away

Born on February 13, 1930 at Baikuntpur, Singhdeo completed his Masters degree in Science and later went on to take a doctorate degree (PhD) in life science.

He was Minister of Water Resources in Madhya Pradesh prior to the formation of the new state.

Considering his acumen and vast experience, Chattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi has entrusted Singhdeo with the charge of the ministries of Finance, Planning and Commercial Tax, Economic and statistics, 20 point programme implementation.
