Ex-Cricketer And Actor Salil Ankola’s Mother Found Dead in Pune Flat
In a distressing event in Pune, Mala Ashok Ankola, 77, the mother of ex-Indian cricketer Salil Ankola, was found dead in her apartment. The circumstances of her demise have led the police to investigate the case as a potential homicide or suicide. Without any evidence of forced entry, the question arises if the assailant was someone Mala knew or possibly someone already inside the premises. The police's investigation is thorough, with a review of CCTV footage and interrogations of local residents underway, alongside the collection of crucial evidence by a forensic team.

Salil Ankola, deeply affected by the loss, took to Instagram to share a touching tribute to his mother, accompanied by a poignant photo and the words, "Goodbye, Mom." This public expression of grief has drawn attention to the family's sorrow. The authorities have been consulting with expert doctors to ascertain the feasibility of the wounds being self-inflicted, considering the severe nature of Mala Ankola's injuries. This case has puzzled the police due to the lack of disturbance at the scene, suggesting a complexity in determining the cause of death.
Salil Ankola's cricket career, which began in Maharashtra, saw him making his Test debut for India on November 15, 1989, a match also notable for Sachin Tendulkar's first appearance. Ankola's cricketing prowess was evident as he secured a wicket in each innings of his debut match. Transitioning to one-day internationals later that year, he was a part of the Indian squad for the 1996 World Cup. However, a promising sports career was cut short in 1997 when Ankola was forced into retirement at 29 due to a tumor in his left calf, marking an abrupt end to his cricket journey.
As the Deccan police in Pune delve deeper into the investigation of Mala Ankola's death, they remain focused on unravelling the mystery surrounding the circumstances. The absence of a break-in hints at a complex case, with the possibility of someone close being involved, thus deepening the intrigue. The community and Ankola's followers are awaiting further details, hoping for clarity on this tragic incident. The case continues to evoke emotions and concern, as the loss of Mala Ankola is mourned by many.
