NFPRC Workshop Stresses Lawmakers’ Role in Driving 10% Growth

The Nation First Policy Research Centre (NFPRC) successfully conducted its maiden workshop titled "Accelerating India's Growth: How Parliamentarians and Legislators Can Enable Viksit Bharat @2047" at Gulmohar Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The day-long workshop, held at India Habitat Centre, brought together MPs, MLAs, and policy experts to examine both the macroeconomic framework for accelerated growth and the ground-level implementation and impact of flagship government programmes.

Tarun Chugh, Chairperson, NFPRC Foundation , and Abhinav Prakash, Board Member, NFPRC, were present during the proceedings, underscoring the institution's commitment to strengthening legislative capacity through structured policy engagement and research-driven dialogue.

Delivering the keynote address, Hon'ble Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, underscored the role of legislative institutions in enabling high-growth outcomes and supporting institutional coherence across levels of government.

Technical sessions by Raja Bujnoori, Research Fellow, Centre for Analytical Finance, ISB on PM SVANidhi and Mani Bhushan Jha on the Jal Jeevan Mission examined service delivery reforms and last-mile implementation, highlighting how legislative engagement can translate policy intent into tangible outcomes.

A session by Rahul Ahluwalia, Director, FED provided a macroeconomic perspective on India's economic strengths, challenges, and opportunities.

The discussions captured NFPRC's approach of combining legislative research support with longer-term work on structural and institutional reforms. The workshop concluded with an emphasis on sustained engagement between legislators, policy experts, and research institutions to strengthen legislative capacity, governance effectiveness, and India's growth trajectory.

Participants emphasized the value of evidence-based, non-partisan dialogue spaces that connect policymakers with rigorous research - a model NFPRC plans to scale through regular workshops, thematic dialogues, and ongoing legislative support.
