Join the 'Navya Khadi Movement': Where Tradition Meets Modern Style
Khadi achieved a new position in the world of fashion on Wednesday, when a grand 'Khadi Workshop and Khadi Runway' program was organized in the capital Delhi through the efforts of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
This event was not just a fashion show, but a celebration of the living revolution of Khadi, which for the first time since independence is not only connecting the youth of the country with its heritage with full enthusiasm and self-pride, but is also redefining it as "Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion".

Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, attended the programme as the Chief Guest which was organised in Delhi.
In his address, he attributed the renaissance of India's heritage Khadi to the "Navya Khadi Movement" initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said, "Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has established Khadi not only as a fabric, but as an idea and inspiration.
His slogan - 'Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion' - is making Khadi today a symbol of both patriotism and modernism." He further said that Bapu's Khadi is today traveling from 'village to glamour' with the inspiration of the Prime Minister. Now Khadi is not only the identity of Swadeshi, but it has also become the driving force of self-reliant India.
During the program in the capital Delhi:
• Live demonstration of spinning wheel: The presentation of spinning yarn by the students of school, college and university by running the traditional spinning wheel familiarized the audience to the soul of Khadi.
• Fashion runway show: Khadi was presented in modern designs, which proved that Khadi has become a part of the mainstream fashion of today's youth.
• Workshop: Participants were connected with sessions based on the history of Khadi, production process and its importance in sustainable lifestyle.
This event brings alive the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in which he has described the 'New Khadi of New India' as the soul of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. On every platform in the country and the world, he constantly gave clarion call for the adoption of Khadi, which has led to a historic increase in the sale of Khadi in the country.
In a statement to the media, Chairman KVIC said that today Khadi is not just a thing of villages, but has become the first choice of fashion designers and a 'global icon'. With the inspiration of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Khadi has carved a niche in fashion shows to start-ups and international forums. He said that such new experiments and workshops in the field of Khadi are now the 'new normal' of the Khadi world.
On this occasion, many well-known fashion designers including Mr. Sunil Sethi, senior fashion designer associated with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and advisor to KVIC, students of schools, colleges and universities of Delhi, representatives of Khadi institutions and officers and employees of KVIC were present.
