Crippled with Brittle Bone Disease bagged National-level Role Model Award

Tata Steel Foundation organised the third edition of 'Sabal Awards' ceremony at Jamshedpur. The Sabal Awards are designed as a step forward to reach out to several exemplary persons who are engaged in contributing to the larger cause of disability in their own unique ways.

The awards, this year, received more than 700 entries from 25 states and 5 UTs of India, of which Dr. Sai Kaustuv Dasgupta, popularly known as Wheelchair Warrior is selected for SABAL ROLE MODEL 2022 under the Spirit of Resilience category. He bagged this national level recognition for his motivational activities and for bringing positive changes in the lives of thousands of PwDs globally.

Dr. Sai Kaustuv, a 90% differently abled from Bengaluru receives Sabal Role Model for taking various motivational sessions and mentoring thousands of PWDs from various backgrounds, helping them engage more socially and empowering the community to find accessible solutions. Sai's contribution toward equality and building an inclusive work culture powered by disability inclusion made him win this special recognition. He fought through his disability and explored how to pursue his passion and, more importantly, happiness. He is an inspiring example and his life serves as an emblem of courage and an unbreakable spirit.

Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Steel Foundation said: "Tata Steel Foundation believes in an equitable society, and encouraging space for a discourse on disability is an integral part of this belief. We have been on a journey with Sabal for the past two years now. The Awards represent an effort at recognising and amplifying the stories that have inspired us the most".

This year, along with Dr. Sai, 56 individuals were felicitated in various categories whose journeys of relentless struggles and dauntless courage are an inspiration for thousands of people out there who are tiring hard to overcome societal challenges.
