Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Dev Sai Launches 'Mukhyamantri Gramin Bus Suvidha Yojana'

In a significant move aimed at enhancing the public transport system in Chhattisgarh, the state cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan, has unveiled the "Mukhyamantri Gramin Bus Suvidha Yojana." This initiative seeks to facilitate accessible transportation services in the state's remote, scheduled, and rural locales, which are currently underserved in terms of passenger transport facilities. With an emphasis on vehicles ranging from 18 to 42 seats, the scheme promises to issue permits and offer various facilities to light and medium transport vehicles, prioritizing inhabitants from Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, women, and those affected by Naxal activities.

Empowering Local Communities and Promoting Inclusivity

To ensure the scheme's effective implementation, state and district-level committees will be established to identify new rural routes. Selection of beneficiaries will be conducted transparently through a tender process, with a focus on empowering local residents. In a significant financial relief, vehicle owners operating on rural roads will be exempt from monthly taxes for up to three years from the permit's issuance date. Moreover, the scheme outlines substantial financial assistance for vehicle operation, with varying rates over three years. This initiative not only aims to improve connectivity but also encourages local entrepreneurship and job creation.

Additionally, the scheme introduces fare exemptions for vulnerable groups, including the blind, intellectually disabled, physically challenged, senior citizens over 80, and AIDS patients, ensuring that transportation is inclusive and accessible to all. In a notable provision, individuals affected by Naxal violence are entitled to a 50% fare reduction, thus acknowledging and addressing the unique challenges faced by this group.

Boosting Technical Education and Digital Skills

In another strategic decision, the cabinet has approved the allocation of over 10 acres of land at no cost for the establishment of a National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) center in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. This move is set to revolutionize the landscape of technical education and digital skills development in Chhattisgarh. Projected to transform the state into a pivotal hub for technical education at a national level, the NIELIT center will offer quality education and new job opportunities to the youth, thereby contributing significantly to the state's technological advancement and economic growth.

Furthermore, the cabinet's decisions underscore a commitment to agricultural and educational advancements. The Krishak Unnati Yojana now extends benefits to farmers engaged in various forms of land cultivation, including Regha, Batai, Lease, and Duban. This amendment ensures that a broader spectrum of farmers can access input assistance, thereby supporting the state's agricultural sector. Additionally, a resolution was made to reintegrate 2,621 B.Ed. qualified assistant teachers, previously removed, into the educational system, demonstrating the government's dedication to rectifying employment issues and enhancing educational staffing.

The reintegration of these assistant teachers as Assistant Teacher Science (Laboratory) is a thoughtful response to employment and educational needs, offering them a pathway to continue their professional contributions while also addressing the shortage of qualified staff in science laboratories across the state. Special training and provisions for acquiring necessary qualifications further illustrate the state's holistic approach to educational improvement and workforce development.
