Bihar Women Gain Self-Reliance Through CM Nitish Kumar Entrepreneur Scheme, Creating New Job Opportunities

Since assuming office, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has focused on reducing unemployment while driving overall state development. To achieve this, large-scale recruitment drives have been conducted across various sectors, including education. The hiring process is being efficiently managed through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and other channels.

In addition to creating job opportunities, the government has launched several schemes across different sectors to promote employment. Initiatives such as the 'Mukhyamantri Ati Pichhda Udyam Yojana' and the formation of livelihood groups aim to strengthen local businesses and economic activities. The Industry Department is also implementing various schemes to support entrepreneurship. These efforts are designed to improve the economic conditions of Bihar's citizens, as stronger financial stability among people leads to greater progress for the state.

One of the key initiatives, the Chief Minister Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Entrepreneur Scheme, was launched on January 24, 2018, on the birth anniversary of the late Shri Karpuri Thakur. Building on its success, the Chief Minister Extremely Backward Class Entrepreneur Scheme was introduced in 2020. Additionally, through the Jeevika Yojana, the government has demonstrated a strong commitment to empowering women by promoting self-reliance.

CM Kumar has consistently taken steps to support women's empowerment. At the request of women, he implemented prohibition in Bihar. In 2021, the government launched the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana' to encourage women's participation in self-employment. Under this scheme, financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh is provided to women entrepreneurs, including a grant of up to Rs five lakh and an interest-free loan of up to Rs five lakh. Beneficiaries can repay the loan in 84 easy monthly instalments after a one-year grace period, with only 1 per cent interest under the Chief Minister Yuva Udyami Yojana.

During 2023-24, a total of 5,053 women benefited from the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana. Those who have completed their training are now receiving the first instalment of financial aid to start their businesses. The Industry Department has arranged training programs, workshops, and orientation sessions to guide selected entrepreneurs. These programs help beneficiaries understand the different stages of the scheme and improve their market access to the products they create. Additionally, they receive information about other government schemes to help them sustain and expand their enterprises.

The Chief Minister Mahila Udyami Yojana also supports various projects, with additional assistance provided through the Chief Minister Micro, Small Cluster Development Scheme. For instance, a Common Facility Centre has been established in Muzaffarpur's bag manufacturing cluster to assist small businesses run by 'Udyami Didis.' Similarly, another Common Facility Centre is being set up in Vaishali district to support entrepreneurs involved in shoe and slipper production.

The Bihar government remains committed to fostering entrepreneurship and economic growth, ensuring that more people have access to employment opportunities and financial independence. Through these initiatives, Bihar is progressing steadily towards a more prosperous and self-reliant future.
