6,584 Youth Benefiting From Udyam Yojana So Far

The Udyam Yojana, launched by the State Industries Department, aims to foster a robust entrepreneurial spirit within the state. For the financial year 2024-25, a total of 541,667 applications have been received. From these, 9,247 applicants were selected randomly, with 6,584 receiving financial assistance to establish their own industries. The highest number of applications were submitted for small and medium enterprises related to ice cream production, bakery, spice manufacturing, notebook production, edible oil processing, seed processing, sanitary napkin production, makhana packaging, and the milling of gram flour and flour.

In the second phase of the scheme, an additional 7,153 applicants have been selected, while 1,431 applicants have been placed on the waiting list. Furthermore, the Bihar government is in the process of establishing Entrepreneurship Development Centres in 101 subdivisions across the state. Preparations are in full swing at the departmental level for this initiative.

Success Stories Inspire Others

Many entrepreneurs have emerged as success stories through their participation in the Udyam Yojana. Sonu Kumar, from Jamui district, established a small notebook manufacturing business, creating employment for four others. Their products are sold both online and in local stores, generating a sustainable income for the group.

Khushboo Kumari, a Divyang entrepreneur, set up a spice industry, providing employment for five individuals. She attributes her success to the Chief Minister's Women Entrepreneur Scheme, saying, "One cannot fly simply by having wings; it takes courage."

Additional Support From Laghu Udyam Yojana

Over 40,000 beneficiaries have received assistance through the Bihar Laghu Udyam Yojana. A total of 40,102 beneficiaries have been granted direct financial aid under this scheme. An amount of Rs 200 crore has been distributed, with each beneficiary receiving an initial installment of Rs 5,000. By 22 January 2025, Rs 1 lakh was distributed to 8,354 beneficiaries as the second installment, totalling Rs 83.54 crore.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Enterprise Formalisation Scheme, financial aid of Rs 794.81 crore has been provided to 13,396 enterprises.
