Nayantara Sahgal, author returns Sahita Akademi Award to protest Dadri killing

Noted writer and niece of the former Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, Nayantara Sahgal has returned the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in protest against Dadri mob lynching and increasing intolerance towards right to dissent in the country. She issued a statement titled - The Unmaking of India. She criticized the government’s inaction and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence. She had received a Sahitya Akademi award in 1986 for her English novel 'Rich Like Us.
