Ice cream parlour case: Kerala, CBI get SC notice

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 22: While a sexual assault case involving India's one of the senior most journalists is keeping the media and politicians busy, Supreme court of Friday sent notice to

state and CBI in connection with the infamous ice cream parlour sex scandal which involves several politicians and other higher officials in the state.

The notice issued by an apex court bench of Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and Justice C. Naggapan, is in response to a petition seeking CBI probe into the case which created huge controversy in the state in 1997. The case unearthed shocking stories about a sex racket which was operating from an ice cream parlour in the state.

The petition filed by former chief minister of Kerala VS Achuthananthan said the case was not handled properly by the state police and demanded CBI inquiry into it.
