Patna blasts: Mehre Alam, who slipped away from toilet, rearrested
Patna, Nov 1: Mehre Alam, who was picked up by investigators for questioning in connection with the October 27 Patna blasts, escaped during interrogation by National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials in Muzaffarnagar on Thursday, was tracked later in a Delhi-bound train in Uttar Pradesh.
He was found after Bihar police and the NIA, launched a manhunt operation to track the 25-year-old who fled from the toilet of a hotel in Muzaffarpur where he was interrogated for 10 hours. Alam was caught in Darbhanga on Wednesday night.

Since the hotel was located close to the railway station, the police suspected that Alam might take a train and also checked all roads leading out of Muzaffarpur.
NIA officials, embarrassed by Alam's escape, said he wasn't a suspect and that they had sought to interrogate the man well ahead of the serial blasts that targetted the rally of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Patna on October 27. They said they wanted to ask him questions about the Bodh Gaya blasts in July and about a suspect named Hyder.
Sources in the police said Alam was suspected to be close to Tehseen Akhtar, alleged mastermind of the Patna blasts.
