Bihar: Officer Who Danced In Uniform Following Tej Pratap Yadav's Direction Sent To Police Lines

Bihar: A constable assigned to protect Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav was sent to the police lines on March 16. The action followed his participation in a dance while in uniform during Holi festivities at Yadav's residence. The Senior Superintendent of Police's office stated, "Constable, Deepak Kumar, posted as security guard of MLA, Tej Pratap, is sent to police lines for dancing in uniform with immediate effect. Kumar will be replaced by another constable in the security of the MLA."

During the Holi celebrations, a video surfaced showing Yadav seated on a sofa, commanding his security guard to perform a 'thumka' or face suspension. In the video, Yadav can be heard saying, "Ae sipahi, ae Deepak, abhi ek gana bajaenge jis par tumko thumka lagana padega. Nahin lagaoge to tumko suspend kar denge. Bura na maano Holi hai." This incident took place at Yadav's official residence.

Controversial Holi Celebrations

The RJD leader's Holi celebration mirrored the 'kapda faad Holi' events once organised by his father. During the event, Yadav tore off supporters' clothes and rode a scooter through nearby streets. While riding, he shouted "Happy Holi Paltu Chacha," targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who has switched alliances with RJD twice.

In response to this incident, Patna Traffic Police fined the scooter owner for multiple violations. Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Aprajit Lohan informed that "Challans of Rs 4,000 have been issued to the owner of the vehicle." The fines were due to riding without a helmet and lacking both a Pollution Under Control Certificate and insurance.

Reactions and Consequences

The policeman involved did not appear too upset by the situation. Although he didn't perform a full 'thumka', he did hop around with one arm raised high in compliance with Yadav's request. The incident has sparked discussions about propriety and discipline among law enforcement officers.

This episode adds another layer to Tej Pratap Yadav's controversial public image. As the elder son of former chief ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, his actions often draw significant attention and scrutiny from both media and political circles.
