Bihar Former Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi Dies At 72 Battling Cancer

Bihar Former Deputy Chief Minister and veteran BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi passed away on Monday following a prolonged illness. The news of Sushil Modi's death was shared by state Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha on the micro-blogging site X, formerly known as Twitter.

Sushil Modi, who was diagnosed with cancer, took his last breath at Delhi AIIMS at the age of 72.

Sharing a condolence message, Vijay Kumar Sinha, in a post in Hindi, said, "Senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Sushil Modi ji is no more among us. This is an irreparable loss for the entire BJP organization family as well as countless workers like me. He will always be remembered for his organisational skills, administrative understanding and his deep knowledge on social and political issues. May God grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family in this hour of grief."

Sushil Modi played a vital role in the formation of the BJP-JDU alliance in Bihar in 2017 to 2020 and performed duties as deputy CM in Nitish Kumar's government.

Soon after Sushil Kumar Modi's death news went viral, politicians from across the country shared condolence and prayed that his soul may rest in peace.

BJP National President JP Nadda, in a post in Hindi, said, "The news of the demise of senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi is extremely sad. From the Vidhyarthi Parishad till now, we have worked together for the organization for a long time. Sushil Modi's entire life was dedicated to Bihar. His efforts have been very helpful in bringing Bihar out of jungle raj and putting it on the path of development. His absence is an irreparable loss for countless workers. May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family members"
