Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi's proposal to dissolve assembly turned down
Patna, Feb 7: Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's proposal at a cabinet meeting on Saturday to dissolve the state assembly was turned down as only seven ministers backed him. Twenty-two ministers went against the proposal.
Earlier, Manjhi met his predecessor Nitish Kumar at his residence to iron out the differences but the talks ended without inconclusively. Manjhi reportedly told Nitish that he should be allowed to remain the chief minister and also the meeting of the legislature party be scrapped and call a fresh meeting later.

He then headed for the cabinet meeting where he made the proposal to dissolve the assembly. A number of senior leaders were present in this meeting apart from JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav.
Manjhi was made the chief minister of Bihar in May last year after Nitish Kumar suddenly decided to quit following his party's disastrous show in the Lok Sabha election.
