Anybody can have a girlfriend, under-fire Bihar CM defends son

, who found himself in the middle of a controversy after reports revealed his

's affair with a policewoman, on Saturday defended his son saying anybody could have a 'girlfriend'.

Manjhi, who succeeded Nitish Kumar as the state's chief minister in May after the JD(U) received a serious drubbing in the Lok Sabha election, told journalists that anybody could have a girlfriend and there was no evidence of any wrongdoing against his son.

When asked whether the BJP had made it an issue against him, Manjhi said the Opposition was targetting him. Manjhi is a representative of the Mushahar community, one of the most backward ones.

Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi accused CM Manjhi of defending his son by not getting an FIR registered in the case. He also took a dig at former chief minister Nitish Kumar for not saying anything on the 'Jungle Raj II' in Bihar. According to the BJP, the coming together of Kumar and Lalu Prasad has signalled the return to the bad days and it has been given the name of "Jungle Raj II".

The CM's son reportedly wanted a deluxe hotel suite for him and a woman cop

According to reports, the chief minister's son along with a policewoman of Bihar Military Police allegedly flouted his position and asked the authorities in a hotel in Gaya to provide them with a deluxe suite on Thursday. The hotel authorities locked the duo up in a suite for the entire day and raised an alarm. The chief minister's son managed to flee later after influencing the staff members with cash.
