The mint at West Point is one of the four US facilities still in use. Its primary purpose is to produce silver dollars and protect the state's precious metal reserves, but some new coins from the Beautiful quarter series were minted there.

History of the West Point Quarters

The US Mint started producing the Beautiful Quarters series in 2010. The idea was to present historical sites critical for American culture and history through collectible coins.
Five pieces with unique reverse sides came up each year, including the last one issued in 2021. The mints in Philadelphia and Denver were responsible for this job, while the West Point mint participated in minting for two years.

West Point Quarter Value Guides

The West Point mint produced coins from this attractive series for only two years. Therefore, you can find only ten varieties with different reverse design looks. Five were issued in 2019, and the next five in 2020.

Each variety came in a mintage of 2,000,000 pieces. Quarters issued in 2020 were particularly unique because of a special privy mark (V 75). It represented the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII.

2019 W Lowell

Coins dedicated to Lowell Park in Massachusetts were released into circulation on February 4, 2019. This national site was established on June 5, 1978. Quarters with the W mint mark typically cost $8 to $11, but those in MS 67 grade are costlier and are worth about $20.

2019 W American Memorial Park

The 2019 W American Memorial Park was established in the Northern Mariana Islands on August 18, 1978. The first coins dedicated to this place were prepared for use on April 1, 2019. You should pay $3 to $7 for specimens rated MS 63 to MS 65, while pieces of the best quality are worth $12 to $20.

2019 W War in the Pacific

The War in the Pacific is a national historical park that opened in Guam on August 18, 1978. Quarters honoring this site became available on June 3, 2019, and you can buy one minted in West Point for $7 to $12. Only those ranked MS 67 are more expensive and cost approximately $35.

2019 W San Antonio Missions

The San Antonio Missions in Texas have existed since November 10, 1978. A few coins with the reverse celebrating this national historical park were accidentally released from the West Point mint on August 20, 2019.

However, their official release date was August 26, 2019. You should set aside at least $3 for a coin in MS 63 grade, while better-ranked pieces cost $5 to $20.

2019 W River of No Return

The River of No Return Wilderness is a historical site in Idaho that was established on July 23, 1980. Even though some of these quarters accidentally occurred before October 29, 2019, their official release date was November 4, 2019. Nowadays, these coins showing the Frank Church are worth $3 to $20, depending on their grade.

2020 W American Samoa National Park

The US Territory of American Samoa has a beautiful national park that has existed since October 31, 1988. Therefore, it was included among 56 other similar places to this astonishing and collectible series.

The first pieces were released from the West Point mint on February 13, 2020. You can buy most specimens for $11 to $14, but the situation is entirely different with those in MS 67 grade. You can expect their price to be about $225.

2020 W Weir Farm

Connecticut citizens are proud of Weir Farm, a famous national historic site established on October 31, 1990. Therefore, it was expected for this place to become a part of one of the most attractive American coinage series.

The West Point mint chose April 6, 2020, as the official release date for these coins. You can buy one piece for approximately $11 to $35, while the most appreciated coins graded MS 67 are worth $160.

2020 W Salt River Bay

The West Point mint started releasing quarters with a red mangrove tree on the reverse on June 1, 2020. They celebrate Salt River Bay Park and Ecological Preserve.
This national historic site was established in the Virgin Islands on February 24, 1992. Coins released on June 1, 2020, typically cost $12 to $40, while those ranked MS 67 are estimated at $200.

2020 W Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller

The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller from Vermont became a national historical park on August 26, 1992. Coins minted in West Point with a release date of August 31, 2020, celebrated this place.

You can buy them at the lowest price of $25 for pieces in MS 63 grade. Others are more expensive, and collectors should set aside $30 to $425 for one, depending on grade.
2020 W Tallgrass Prairie

Tallgrass Prairie in Kansas was established on November 12, 1996. Coins dedicated to this national preserve appeared on November 16, 2020. Nowadays, you can buy them for $25 to $100, while the most expensive pieces graded MS 67 can reach $400.

Features of the West Point Quarters

You can recognize ten types of West Point quarters. They have the same obverse and unique reverse appearance.

Obverse

All West Point quarters have the obverse with the Washington image in the center. There are also the country name, denomination, motto, designer's initials, and LIBERTY. Finally, they have the mint mark W, while those minted in 2020 also include a V75 privy mark.

Reverse

The reverse quarter side varies, depending on the state.

Expectedly, each West Point quarter is a round 25-cent coin with an edge containing 119 reeds. They have a pure copper core with an outer layer made of copper and nickel. The total ratio of these two metals is 91.67%: 8.33%.

The coins' diameter is 0.955 inches, equaling 24.26 millimeters, while their thickness is 0.068897 or 1.75 millimeters on the metric scale. New pieces weigh precisely 0.20000336 or 5.67 grams.

West Point Quarter Errors

Despite modern technology and all the efforts the US Mint makes, you can still find imperfect coins and variations minted in 2019 and 2020. The most popular Blind Bat comes from the Philadelphia mint, but you can also find a few errors from West Point, including:

West Point Quarter Grading

Even though these coins were issued recently, it doesn't mean they are still perfect. Despite popular belief, only rare pieces are in top-notch condition, and even the most expensive are never better than a maximal MS 69 ranking.

These coins look ideal at first glance, but a trained eye can recognize tiny imperfections under a magnifying glass. That places them in lower grades on the Seldon scale.
