Quitting corporate job, a delhi girl reaches skiing nationals : An awe-inspiring story of Radhika Nomllers

How many of you have the guts to quit a handsome job in favour of self-discovery ?

For Sure not many !

We are often influenced by the bandwagon effect; little do we explore and realize what suits us.

However, not following what was 'so common', Radhika Nomllers "once upon a time had promised herself not to live an average life".

Breaking the monotonous flow of work-loaded life, Radhika Sharma, now an experienced adventure enthusiast, left her corporate job and decided to travel the world. Widely acclaimed as Radhika Nomllers, she has been knitting an overwhelming saga for others to follow.

Opting for growth for herself, she transformed her life from a girl who rarely travelled to a girl who can now lead the world in skiing, surfing and other global adventures.

Strikingly, she is neither a girl who inherited this trait nor a girl who could have dreamt of doing the same. Rather, hailing from Delhi with roots in Amritsar, she had been leading an ordinary life; a life which was surrounded by pursuits in academic growth. She started skiing when skiing was not a trend.

All was unplanned, but was destined to be for her. The journey began after she quit a job and was thinking of becoming a trek leader. Considering this, she then decided to apply for mountaineering courses at the website of Mountaineering School of India. However, fascinatingly, she came across the option of skiing which was quite affordable for her. She vaguely applied for the skiing course in 2019.

But nature, as said, had a different treasure for her. Her course got cancelled owing to low snowfall then.

Still endeavouring for something different, Radhika then looked at Jawaharlal Institute of Mountaineering and Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM). Without any expectations, she joined the Institute to learn the basics.

As it is said, when you have the desire to start and you begin with basics; you tend to take-off even in an unfamiliar setup. Similar, striking happenings awaited Radhika. Following the basics, she passed through intermediate to advanced courses as well. Next, unacceptably, her life welcomed her with an opportunity to go for The National Competition in Skiing.

In her words, "My plan was not to go to nationals, because my aim in life is to go to the mountain top and ski down that mountain. But my coach told me that I was ready for the nationals". Representing Delhi, this was for the first time that she was appearing for the competition at Auli. Although the other participants were much more experienced and had inherited the sport in blood; she valiantly decided to give it a shot.

Her spirit lies in, "My aim was to give my best, to complete the run even if I am slow. My competition was not with them, but with myself. I wanted to put myself to the test and check my ability to complete the competition without any fear". Although she didn't get any position but yet much to her praise, she successfully completed her run and qualified it.

This event came as a turning point in her life, as it made her realize her abilities and she says, "I know now where I have to go!"

Humans these days tend to live an aimless, round to the clock life. But Radhika's story is quite awe-inspiring. She gave herself the right time to discover the right strength in herself. Tranquillity indeed !
She epitomizes the fact that self-discovery gives one the ultimate.
