August 12: Shwetaben Patel, General Manager of Pyrrhic Pharma Private Limited, has been honoured with India's most coveted award "Indian Achievers Award" on the occasion of the 62nd national summit "Atmanirbhar Bharat: Vision of New India" in recognition of her outstanding contribution towards the Pharmaceutical Innovations & Invention of Novel Drug Abuse Deterrent Technology that not only advanced the pharmaceutical field but also contributed in the wellbeing of Indian society and also the economy.

Shwetaben Patel was awarded on the occasion of Atmanirbhar Bharat: Vision of New India.

The award ceremony was held at Le Meridian in New Delhi. This award is an acknowledgement of Mrs. Patel's outstanding professional achievement and her contribution to building a self-reliant India and a wellbeing Indian society. Being a technology inventor and an accomplished pharmaceutical leader in a very short span of her carrier, Mrs. Patel invented novel drug abuse-deterrent technology is a novel approach to the formulation of opioid prescriptions in the form of medicine that reduces the incidence of opioid drug abuse crisis at the first stage, that deter not only abuse via parenteral or nasal route but also effective to effectively mitigate the opioid overdose abuse crisis of the opioid formulation.

Mrs. Patel developed a patented prototype of novel drug abuse-deterrent technology capable to treats chronic pain while ensuring deterring opioid overdose abuse and abuse after tampering with the dosage form (crushing, grinding, dissolving, extracting, etc.) via another route. This new technological product comprises a unique combination of opioid drug particles, opioid antagonist particles, and pH-modulating ingredients. If an abuser overdoses by taking multiple pills of this unique combination at once, this novel medicine delays opioid agonist release and thus prevents euphoria.

At the same time, when an abuser tampers with the dosage form, i.e. crushing, grinding, extracting, etc., for alternative route administration, such as powder form for snorting or extracting drug in solution form for parenteral route administration, the invented formulation will release both opioid agonist and opioid antagonist from the respective particulates at the same time, because antagonist agent has a higher affinity to bind with opioid receptor than opiate agonist, it will block euphoria.

The Indian Achievers' Forum honours extraordinary accomplishments by groups and individuals who have a direct or indirect influence on India's socioeconomic wellbeing. The forum focuses on the idea of "how successful achievers may contribute to the country's social development." Mrs. Patel was awarded for her "Achievement and Contribution to Nation Building". As India celebrates 75 years of independence in 2022, this year's theme for the National Summit was 'Leadership next for Atmanirbhar Bharat', with the primary focus on self-reliance, and self-sustenance, adopted by the Government of India and making India a part of the global economy.
