MrRameshGowani attends the inauguration of a unique school in Karnataka
The drastic change in the approach of educators, parents, and society, in general, is the reason for frown for many. Those who have their values rooted in tradition and culture, wish to take the legacy forward and ensure that schools include cultural education in their methodology. The penetration of foreign languages and international festivals like Halloween intothe Indian education system has left many worried.

They believe that as schools move towards making students ready for jobs and a global environment, they shouldn't forget the roots. They wish to embrace the rich values and culture along with modernization in education. Thus, visionaries like Shri Prabhakar Bhat are trying hard to introduce education plans that are a mix of gurukul and modern teaching methods. MrBhat is an RSS leader from Mangalore and a revered public figure who is working hard to revolutionize education. Sri Rama Vidyakendra is his effort in the direction.
The school is an endeavour to bridge the gap between the current generation and the rich heritage of India. It seamlessly combines gurukul methods with technology and makes the instruction interesting and enriching. Hindu religion and culture form an integral part of the school curriculum. The day starts with Diya lighting and SaraswatiVandana and students do all their chores right from laying the mats to learning farming. English, Sanskrit, and Kannada are the only languages taught at the school and students regularly speak in Sanskrit. "People have started referring to Sanskrit as a dead language and we must revive it", says Shri Prabhakar Bhat. Apart from this, technology is an important aspect imbibed in the school routine. It ensures that students learn about tradition and culture but also learn and grow to be global citizens.
The school recently got its high school science laboratory and the event had a versatile mix of chief guests. These were people who have similar thoughts and approach towards education. Among them was Mr Ramesh Gowani, the owner of Kamala Group, Mumbai. MrGowani is closely associated with Kamala trust which is actively involved in a multitude of social service efforts including education support initiatives. In a recent interview, MrGowani said that it was heartwarming to see the work being done at Sri Rama Vidyakendra. He was profusely appreciative of the culture and religion penetration that he saw at the school. "The students spoke fluently in Sanskrit and knew many shlokas and religious teachings by heart", said MrGowani. He was also impressed by their interest in science, technology, and other subjects.
He thinks of this invitation as a great honour and hopes to see more such schools in the country. We hope so too.
