India Ignites: Bharat Startup Yatra Redraws the Map of Innovation
In the heart of India's untamed spirit-where chai stalls double as brainstorming hubs and dusty roads lead to dreams-Bharat Startup Yatra is rolling through with more than just a camera crew.
It's a cinematic caravan capturing the birth of a new entrepreneurial India-gritty, grounded, and gloriously ambitious.

Directed by filmmaker-turned-storyteller Shashie Vermaa, this trailblazing docu-series ditches the clichés of silicon towers and pitch decks.
Instead, it plunges into the alleys, fields, and forgotten corners where raw ideas are germinating into tomorrow's unicorns. What emerges is not just a series, but a revolution in motion.
"I used to perform stories," says Vermaa. "Now I chase them. Real ones. Stories that breathe the air of small towns and speak in the voice of their people."
From the engine-revving enthusiasm of young techies to the ingenious frugal innovations from hinterlands, Bharat Startup Yatra doesn't merely show entrepreneurship-it lives it.
The series rides the pulse of Bharat, unearthing founders who are solving problems born of their own surroundings-sometimes with just a smartphone and an idea.
This isn't your average business series. Bharat Startup Yatra is a genre-fluid odyssey: it blends intimate documentary, macroeconomic insight, and emotional storytelling.
It's as much about data as it is about dreams. Crafted with Vermaa's cinematic eye and emotional instinct, each episode invites viewers not to observe-but to feel.
The soul of the project lies in its authenticity. No retakes. No fabricated drama. Just real people navigating real challenges, with moments of heartbreak, laughter, and rare breakthroughs-caught raw, in the moment.
Joining Vermaa is a formidable team. Research and script development are spearheaded by former journalist Nishat Shamshi, whose journalistic rigor lends every episode depth and context.
Creative Director Chandan Aanand adds visual elegance and emotional cohesion, turning each story into a visual anthem.
Adding her empathetic voice to the journey is seasoned journalist Richa Anirudh, who brings not just interviews but heartfelt conversations with founders. And tying it all together is acclaimed actor Sunny Hinduja, serving as the sutradhaar-the narrative soul of the series.
Known to fans as Sandeep Bhaiya, Hinduja doesn't just narrate; he reflects the very spirit of the series-resilient, grounded, and determined.
"I've lived the story of starting from scratch," Hinduja shares. "This isn't just about startups. It's about the India that dares to dream from its smallest corners. Bharat Startup Yatra gives voice to that fire."
Conceptualized by October Sky-a production house known for its bold, socially relevant storytelling.
The series will be streamed on Waves OTT, a platform that prioritizes digital-first, rooted-in-India content. Through this partnership, these untold stories will reach millions of aspiring innovators across the country.
Even as he rides this documentary wave, Vermaa hasn't stepped away from the screen. He's currently filming with two national award-winning directors-Chhath by Nitin Chandra and Lakshmi Mariyam by Amol Gole-while also gearing up for a return in Panchayat Season 4. His dual journey-on screen and behind the lens-is a testament to his unrelenting love for stories.
"We are delighted to support Bharat Startup Yatra, a compelling initiative that captures the entrepreneurial spirit shaping India's future. This documentary aligns with Prasar Bharati's vision to showcase transformative stories from across the nation. Its availability on Waves OTT ensures these inspiring narratives reach a digital-first, pan-India audience, encouraging innovation and ambition at every level."
- Shri Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO, Prasar Bharati
Bharat Startup Yatra is not just entertainment-it's empowerment on wheels. With each pit stop, it's capturing the ethos of a new India. A country where innovation isn't confined to metros, and success stories are sprouting from the most unlikely soil.
