How BJP Leader Dr.SG Suryah Helped A Narikuravar Lady Recover From A Fractured Hand in South Chennai
BJP Tamil Nadu State Secretary Dr.SG Suryah seems to be slowly winning the hearts of the people in his locality South Chennai and has received a lot of appreciation for his relief efforts during Cyclone Michaung. Residents of South Chennai have been sharing a lot of stories about the BJP Youth leader's efforts and one such story is the story of Mini Velliamma.
On 9 December 2023, Suryah met Velliamma when distributing food and other essential supplies at a Narikuravar tribal hamlet in the Thiruvanmiyur area of South Chennai Lok Sabha constituency.

But it was no ordinary encounter for Velliamma. She was suffering a fractured hand and was finding it difficult to not just go about her daily work but even to attend nature's call. The floods only made it worse for her as her home was also severely damaged.
She lamented to Suryah about her troubles and expressed her discomfort with the fractured hand.
"I've been roaming around with this hand unable to do anything. I'm not able to contribute money for the family, I am not able to cook a decent meal for the family. I feel like a waste with no respect. I feel ashamed to ask my family to get me to a doctor and get this fixed as they're also under financial strain.", she apparently told Suryah.

"If possible, can you take me to the doctor?", these words stung Suryah's heart and he immediately got her details to help her get medical treatment.
On 12 December 2023, Velliamma got her hand scanned and X-Rayed at a private facility for the doctors to diagnose the problem.
The day after, Suryah went to meet her again to check on her and get her diagnostic report. He asked her to get ready for the treatment.
Suryah admitted Velliamma at Cadence Hospital in Chennai on 24 December 2023 for a minor surgery. Dr. Ravi of the hospital explained the complications and the kind of pain she was going through because of the fracture. The surgery was successful and Velliamma was shifted to the ward to be in bed-rest for a couple of days.
Meanwhile Suryah also apprised Velliamma's family of her health. He went to check on her again on 27 December 2023 as she was recuperating in the ward.
"I am thankful to Dr. Ravi. He took personal care of her and saw to it that she got the best treatment. Such doctors are the backbone of our society.", Suryah said.
Velliamma was discharged from the hospital a few days later after observation. The hands which were once unable to even move, automatically folded to thank Suryah.
"A mother does not thank her son.", Suryah said and left.
We continue in full-time politics because of moments like this ❤️ Never have I been more contended. Happy to change the life of Mini Velliamma of #SouthChennai Narikuravar hamlet for good.
