"It may seem the easiest to rehash existing content or create news from social media activity, but it will not get you brownie points. Everyone is doing it and it is actually frustrating", said one founder.

Trends are temporary, but journalistic ethics are permanent. Another important tip that came out of this conversation was to publish only the truth and not vague interpretations of half-baked data. It is news media, after all.
