Why was Rahul smiling when Sonia Gandhi was accepting Cong's defeat?

New Delhi, May 17: On Friday when the Lok Sabha election results were being announced, Congress leaders were out, speaking to the media accepting their party's worst ever defeat. Many leaders even accepted that the Modi wave had worked in the country.

Amidst all this there was one leader who smiled and kept smiling without realising that the shutterbugs had captured the 'smiling moment.'

This leader happens to be the second in command in the Congress party- Rahul Gandhi. While his mother and Congress party president Sonia Gandhi was addressing the media on the party's loss and took full responsibility for it, Rahul was smiling.

Though it is not clear why he was smiling, camera grabs show that he was responding to reporters who were calling out to him.

Shortly after the incident, Twitter was flooded with jokes on Rahul's 'grinning moment.'

Before Sonia Gandhi addressed the media persons, Rahul too congratulated the new government and said that 'being the party's vice president I take full responsibility for the loss.'
