What Is Delhi Govt's 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana'? Check Eligibility For Rs 1000 Scheme
The AAP government on Monday announced that all women in the Union Territory will get financial assistance.
Delhi Finance Minister Atishi on Monday announced the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana' under which Rs 1,000 will be given monthly to all women aged above 18 from the fiscal year 2024-25.

Addressing the media, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "...Today a big announcement has been made for the women of Delhi. This will be the world's biggest program to empower women. Now they will not have to depend on anyone for money. Every woman above 18 years of age will be given Rs 1,000 every month."
He said that government employees and income taxpayers are not eligible for the scheme.
Kejriwal said, "...women above 18 years of age who are not government employees, who do not receive any pension and who do not pay income tax, will get the benefit. Women will have to give a self-declaration. The process will start after the elections..."
Atishi announced the scheme in her maiden budget speech. "The Kejriwal government will give a monthly amount of Rs 1,000 to every woman aged 18 or above. Under the Mukyamnatri Mahila Samman Yojana, women will be given this benefit," she said.
Atishi presented the budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the Delhi Assembly on Monday with an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore, and said the government is trying to realise the dream of 'Ram Rajya'.
Similar schemes have been launched in the states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
In Karnataka, the government gives Rs 2000 to the women heads of families, as identified in ration cards (BPL and APL cards). They will be eligible for financial aid every month, as long as the women or the husbands do not fall under the tax-paying bracket.
In Tamil Nadu, the DMK government has launched 'Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam'. The DMK government has identified as many as 1.06 crore women (1,06,50,000) as beneficiaries under the plan and the Rs 1,000 assistance is paid to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer.
Eligibility
As of now, the government has only announced that women should be 18 or above 18 to be eligible. Also, women government employees, those receiving pensions and income taxpayers are not eligible for the scheme.
Given the framework of schemes in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, residency in Delhi may likely be a criterion for eligibility under the AAP government.
Applicants are expected to furnish their Aadhaar Card, mobile phone, and other necessary documents as specified by the Delhi government to qualify for the scheme.
