“We don’t hold any property on behalf of Dawood”-Iqbal Memon’s sons say
The two sons of Iqbal Memon say that they do not hold any property on behalf of Dawood Ibrahim. The two sons of the late Iqbal Memon, Asif and Junaid are now residents of Dubai and live with their mother Hajra Memon.
Neither brother has ever met Dawood Ibrahim or have had any communication with him. Most of the properties/companies mentioned in media articles, and presumably in the mythical government dossier, do not belong to the brothers. The reaction comes in the wake of media reports regarding a conversation about the settlement of Iqbal Mirchi’s Worli Sea facing property at Mumbai.
A senior UK based political and media adviser for the brothers said, “The brothers reiterate that they run a respectable, and highly successful, property portfolio and the business is built on solid ground. Neither brother has ever met Dawood Ibrahim or have had any communication with him. The brothers do not hold any property for or on behalf of Dawood Ibrahim.
Most of the properties/companies mentioned in media articles, and presumably in the mythical government dossier, do not belong to the brothers,” he said.
Our Clients are dignified and law abiding citizens. Asif Memon, is a respectable businessman and a British citizen. He runs a successful hospitality and trading industry and has real estate interests in London, India and Dubai. His businesses are legitimate and are in no way contradictory to the rules of law, the statement also read.
It was reported by Indian media that Prime Miinister Narendra Modi was expected to make a formal request to UK PM David Cameron that there should be a crackdown on Dawood Ibrahim's operations on British soil.
Immediately preceding the visit, a story conveniently appeared in Indian media purporting to be the views of the Indian Government and security agencies. The story claimed that Asif and Junaid were running a huge worldwide network of properties and were merely a front for Dawood's illegal billions.
Junaid also has real estate interests in India and London. Junaid’s business interests are legitimate and are in no way contradictory to the rules of law. Both the brothers are law- abiding citizens and do not have a criminal record.
