Vasant Vihar SDM to probe Sunanda Pushkar's death

, the wife of Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Shashi Tharoor in a hotel here on Friday evening. According to Section 176 of the Criminal Penal Code, a probe has to be conducted into the death of any woman who is married for less than seven years. Sunanda Pushkar and Shashi Tharoor got married in 2010.

On Friday, Sunanda Pushkar's body was found in Room No. 345 of Leela Hotel after the housekeeping staff found no response from inside the room and broke the door open. A team of forensic experts reached the spot where Pushkar's body was found. The police also sought the CCTV footage from the hotel authorities and interrogated the hotel staff members. Reports said Pushkar was seen sometime between 3 and 3.30 pm.

No injury marks were found on the body of Pushkar, who was found on the bed.

The post-mortem will take place at AIIMS, said police sources

Rajan Bhagat, the public relations officer of the Delhi Police said the actual reason of the death of the minister's wife could be known only after the post-mortem reports came out. The post-mortem would be conducted on Saturday in the AIIMS, said sources.

The entire hotel compound was sealed by the private security staff of the hotel authorities.
