Maneka had demanded that juveniles who were found guilty of rape must be tried as adults in a court of law. She said that she was working towards amending the law so that juveniles can be tried as adults.
Maneka also saw support from Delhi Commission for Women chief Barkha Singh who welcomed Maneka's statement and demanded that the law be amended as soon as possible.
