Union Home Secretary briefs Narendra Modi on internal security
Goswami reportedly spoke to Modi about steps being taken to check terror activities and infiltration from across the border and the action plan which is being executed to deal with the Maoist problem.
Modi was briefed on situation in J&K, northeast and Naxal-hit areas
He also briefed Modi about the formal division of Andhra Pradesh, from which two states, namely, Telangana and Seemandhra will be carved out on June 2. The two interacted for about half and hour.
The meeting was a part of the familiarisation exercise by the Home Ministry for the new prime minister.
Modi and his party, the BJP, have been vocal on the issue of infiltration from Bangladesh into the Indian territory in Assam and West Bengal. Modi also vowed to deport the infiltrators during his campaigning, leading to a massive conflict with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
