TV channel under scanner for Muzaffarnagar violence
According to sources in the ministry, the content aired by the accused channel, Sudarshan TV, was being examined and suspected that the latter might have violated the line by instigating the violence that have killed nearly 40 people.
The channel's licence could be cancelled if the charges are found to be true
The ministry took the step after complaints were filed against the news channel and wanted to give it a chance to defend its case. The sources said that the channel could see its licence cancelled if the complaints are found to be true.
According to the report, the channel authorities said they have been doing business for the past seven years and never had faced any allegation about their channel content. They reportedly appealed to their viewers to remain calm.
