Patna: Shinde draws flak
New Delhi, Oct 28: Even as panic gripped Patna on Sunday after low intensity serial blasts went off near the Gandhi Maidan, where BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi was going to address the public, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde is facing criticism for attending a music event.

Shinde is facing heavy criticism as he was seen attending the music launch of the film Rajjo in Mumbai, on the day of the blasts.

According to reports, Shinde had attended the event for three hours after the blasts in Patna took place.

"Instead of controlling the situation, he chose to attend a music launch. This is similar to what had happened during 26/11 when the state home minister RR Patil said that such things happen in big cities," a BJP spokesperson said. "The state home minister then was giving interviews to different news channels in different set of clothes instead of acting on the situation," he added.

Shinde: I requested organisers to hold event close to the airport

Shinde, in his defense said that the was constantly in touch with the officials and said that he was being informed about what was going on. "I had requested the organisers to hold the event close to the airport since he had to rush back to Delhi because of the situation in Patna," he told the audience at the event.

The NCP however has come out in defense of Shinde saying that he was just attending the event for sometime and was monitoring the situation in Patna regularly.
