Somnath Bharti's Delhi Midnight raid: Delhi Police given clean chit

New Delhi, Mar 1: Former Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti has been left red faced after a judicial court gave a clean chit to Delhi Police and put the blame on Bharti for creating a controversy out of the midnight raid led by Bharti in Khriki against Ugandan nationals in January.

The judicial probe report has virtually given a chit to the Malviya Nagar Police and has been submitted to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on Friday. Bharti, in the report has been blamed for the entire incident contrary to his claims.

The probe report is likely to come as a set back to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) considering that Arvind Kejriwal had defended Bharti saying that the Law minister had done nothing wrong.

The incident had come across as a huge blow to the AAP and Kejriwal's government as Bharti had alleged that many Ugandan nationals were involved in a drug and sex racket.
