Snake? Nope, Just a Baby Lizard Causing Commotion On Delhi Metro | WATCH

Following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing passengers panicking over the presence of a snake in a Delhi Metro coach, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday clarified that a baby lizard had been discovered during an inspection.

The video, widely shared on Instagram on Thursday evening, sparked claims that a snake had been sighted in a ladies' coach of the Delhi Metro.

In the footage, several women can be seen shouting, lifting their legs off the floor, and climbing onto seats in fear.

When someone in the video asks why there is panic, a passenger can be heard claiming there is a cobra in the coach.

Another voice urges someone to knock on the driver's cabin and request that the train be stopped.

However, the DMRC stated that no snake was visible in the video, but that it had acted swiftly upon receiving the alert. The train was stopped at Akshardham Metro station, all passengers were evacuated, and the train was then sent to the depot for a thorough inspection.

"Although the snake is not visible in the video, it is being purportedly claimed that a snake was spotted in a ladies' coach.

Immediate action was taken upon receiving the alert," said Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director (Corporate Communications), DMRC.

"Despite a meticulous check of the train footage and the coach at the depot by the concerned team, no snake was found. However, a baby lizard was spotted during the inspection," Dayal said.

He added that the DMRC gives utmost importance to passenger safety and had followed all standard procedures to confirm there was no danger.

"We urge passengers to remain vigilant and report any such concerns to our staff for prompt action," he said.
