Shiv Sena Chief Eknath Shinde Extends Support To BJP In Delhi Assembly Elections
Shiv Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has stated that his party backs the BJP in the Delhi Assembly elections to prevent a division of Hindutva votes. He mentioned that the party, however, is prepared to contest local body elections independently, but only after consulting with alliance partners, Times of India reported.
During a media interaction in Thane, Shinde explained, "We have supported the BJP in the New Delhi elections as we wanted to avoid a split in the Hindutva votes and bring the NDA government to power there. We will however take decision to fight solo in the local body elections only after consulting with our alliance partners."

Party Workers Induction
The remarks came after several party workers from different regions joined Shiv Sena. Shinde highlighted that dedicated Sainiks are confident that the party adheres to Balasaheb Thackeray's principles. He assured them that he would not compromise on these values for power, which has led many to join him.
Shinde emphasised that Shiv Sena's decision to support BJP was strategic, aiming for unity among Hindutva supporters. The collaboration was intended to strengthen their position in Delhi by ensuring a consolidated vote bank.
While discussing future plans, Shinde reiterated that any decision regarding contesting local elections alone would be made collaboratively with alliance partners. This approach reflects Shiv Sena's commitment to maintaining strong alliances while also considering independent strategies.
The induction of new members into Shiv Sena signifies growing support for Shinde's leadership and vision. Many believe his adherence to core principles attracts loyal followers who trust his leadership.
Shinde's statements underline Shiv Sena's strategic approach towards elections, balancing between coalition politics and independent ambitions. By aligning with BJP in Delhi, they aim to present a united front while keeping options open for future electoral contests.
This development highlights Shiv Sena's adaptability in political strategies, ensuring they remain influential both within alliances and independently. The party continues to focus on its foundational values while navigating complex political landscapes.
The single phase Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 5 and the counting on 8.
