Shashi Tharoor hospitalised, suffered a cardiac event: AIIMS

New Delhi, Jan 18: After the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar shocked everyone on Friday night, Union Minister Shashi Tharoor is said to have been admitted to the ICU of AIIMS.

Tharoor had allegedely complained of chest pain, palpitation and uneasiness and was immediately rushed to AIIMS cardiology department on Friday night. AIIMS said that Tharoor suffered a cardiac event.

Doctors say Tharoor is out of danger

TV reports suggest that he is now out of danger and has been shifted to a ward but it is unlikely that he will be discharged soon.

This comes just few hours after Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in her hotel room in The Leela on Friday. The minister's staff told the SDM, that Sunanda had not eaten for the past two days and had taken sleeping pills.

Police is said to be looking at all angles that may have cause Pushkar's death including that of drug overdose and a heart attack. Pushkar's autopsy will be conducted on Saturday in AIIMS.
