SAS Exit Polls Forecast AAP's Stronghold, BJP Expected to Secure Majority

Exit polls conducted by SAS have projected the following results for the Delhi assembly elections: the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is expected to secure between 27 and 30 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) between 38 and 41 seats, and the Congress between 0 and 1 seat.

Multiple exit polls released on Wednesday predict a victory for the BJP over the ruling AAP in the Delhi elections, while the Congress is expected to see no significant improvement from the previous elections. However, two exit polls forecast an AAP win, and several others suggest a close race with the BJP having a slight edge. Official results will be declared on February 8 after the vote count.

SAS Exit Polls Forecast AAP s Stronghold BJP Expected to Secure Majority

Exit polls are based on interviews with voters leaving polling stations and can vary significantly from actual outcomes. The 2020 Delhi elections saw many exit polls miss their predictions. In those polls, some predicted a BJP win, with the People's Pulse survey forecasting the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) winning 51 to 60 seats, while AAP was projected to secure 10 to 19 seats, and Congress was expected to fail to win any seats.

The People's Insight exit poll predicted 40 to 44 seats for the NDA, 25 to 29 for AAP, and 0-1 for Congress. Similarly, the P-Marq poll forecast 39-49 seats for the BJP and allies, 21-31 for AAP, and 0-1 for Congress. The JVC poll estimated 39-45 seats for the BJP, 22-31 for AAP, and 0-2 for Congress. The Poll Diary survey predicted 42-50 seats for the BJP, 18-25 for AAP, and 0-2 for Congress.

Chankya Strategies projected 39-44 seats for the BJP and allies, 25-28 for AAP, and 2-3 for Congress. Two exit polls-Wee Preside and Mind Brink Media-forecast AAP victories, with Wee Preside giving AAP 46-52 seats, BJP 18-23, and Congress 0-1, while Mind Brink Media predicted 44-49 for AAP, 21-25 for BJP, and 0-1 for Congress. Matrize predicted a close contest, with the NDA at 35-40 seats and AAP at 32-37 seats. DV Research forecasted 26-34 seats for AAP and 36-44 for the BJP and allies, giving zero seats to Congress.

In the 70-member Delhi Assembly, the majority mark is 36 seats. Currently, AAP holds 62 seats, BJP has eight, and Congress has none. The polls closed Wednesday, with nearly 58% of the 1.55 crore voters casting their votes by 5 p.m. AAP leaders dismissed the exit polls, while BJP leaders expressed confidence in their win.
