Robbery at ex-BJP MLA’s flat: Domestic help held
New Delhi, July 14: A domestic help of former MLA and BJP leader Rameshwar Prasad Chaurasia was arrested from Mumbai for allegedly making off with valuables and cash worth Rs 4.50 lakh from his flat in Lutyens, the police said.

A police team from Delhi was in Vapi, but missed nabbing the accused on July 9 due to heavy rains in Mumbai.
The accused, identified as Vijay Prakash Yadav (30), was a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur, they added.
On July 6, Chaurasia filed a complaint regarding a theft in his South Avenue flat. Jewellery worth approximately Rs four lakh, and Rs 50,000 in cash were stolen from his residence. He alleged that his domestic help was missing since the theft, the police said.
A police team visited Yadav's village in Jaunpur and questioned his family members about his whereabouts. But it was learnt that Yadav had not visited his village. But police managed to trace his mobile number and analysed its call detail records.
The police received a tip-off on July 7 that Yadav had made a phone call from his number, but using another cell phone.
Subsequently, the location of his cell phone was traced and it was found to be in Mumbai. The Delhi Police sought help from their Mumbai counterparts.
Although the police managed to trace the hotel where he was staying, by the time they reached the spot, he had escaped, the police said.
On July 9, police managed to trace Yadav's new location and a police team from Delhi was sent to Mumbai.
"Even the Mumbai Police was alerted about the developments. Due to floods in Mumbai, the team from Delhi was stuck at Vapi station and could not reach Mumbai," the police said.
Another team from Delhi was sent to Mumbai on July 10 and a raid conducted with the help of the Mumbai Police. Subsequently, the accused was nabbed.
All stolen items, including some cash, were recovered from the accused, he said.
During interrogation, police found out that Yadav had come to Delhi two months ago and started working in Chaurasia's residence. Yadav was introduced to the former MLA by one Rakesh who is known to Chaurasia, he added.
Yadav told police that he stole money and jewellery from the former MLA's residence and hid it in his room. On July 4, he left the room and fled to Mumbai. He went to Mumbai to enjoy but due to heavy rain he could not move from there. Subsequently, he was arrested, the police said.
