Land Acquisition Bill: Rahul Gandhi takes train to Punjab to meet farmers
New Delhi, April 28: Taking the fight against the Land Acquisition Bill further, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday boarded a train to Punjab to asses the situation over there.
Rahul will be visiting Khanna and Gobindgarh in Punjab and will meet the farmers there. "I am going to Punjab because I have been told that the situation of the farmers is very bad there. I am going there to know the reality."

He said that he wanted to check the reality at the mandi in the state. "Land is being snatched from the people who give food to this country. This is wrong and we will fight it," he said.
Farmers in Punjab have been facing a lot of problems selling their crops and many of them have even committed suicide in the past few months.
Rahul will begin his country-wide padyatra against the land bill by the end of this month. His padyatra will commence from Vidarbha in Maharashtra. Rahul's next stop will be Nagpur where he will meet farmers.
Ever since he returned back from his sabbatical, Rahul has been pro-active and has voiced his concerns about the farmer community that suffered due to untimely rainfall that damaged their crops.
