PM Modi has confused the nation on Pakistan: Shashi Tharoor

New Delhi, March 24: Former minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left the nation confused over his stand on relations with neighbour Pakistan.

The Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram said the Prime minister has to explain why he has been blowing hot and cold on Pakistan. He said Modi's attitude to Pakistan was very belligerent when he was campaigning ahead of the polls but after coming to power, he invited Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to his swearing-in.

Tharoor also said Modi's statement on Pakistan National Day yesterday was clearly a reconciliatory gesture.

Modi greeted his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on Pakistan National Day and told him that all outstanding issues between the two neighbours could be resolved through bilateral talks and an atmosphere free of terrorism.
