Hosabale said the publication has built a strong place in English-language media. Hosabale also said Organiser was more than a weekly newspaper. "Organiser is a movement, a thought movement, a part of the nationalist movement,\" Hosabale said. Hosabale urged the weekly to reflect public concerns and keep its wider role.
Organiser weekly and nationalist ideology
Hosabale described the challenge of remaining effective without becoming partisan. \"It is difficult when you are having governments of the same nationalist ideological family running a newspaper and being effective, relevant and also not become a campaigner and publicity newspaper of the government.\" Hosabale added, \"Be the voice of society, be the voice of the people.\"
Hosabale said the weekly follows clear principles and media ethics. Hosabale said it carries nationalist thoughts and views in its reporting. Hosabale also said it has defended press freedom strongly. \"Organiser has been a crusader of freedom of the Press. Organiser is a sentinel of the nations interests, a vanguard of national security. It is a voice of the nations soul.\"
Organiser and press freedom in Parliament
Hosabale said Organiser links the state and citizens, and helps society examine itself. \"Organiser says it is a voice of the nation, but I want to add it is a voice of the nations soul -- a bridge between the government and society, a conscience keeper of our society. Organiser has achieved much. It can play a more important role as a journal, as a news weekly,\" Hosabale said.
Hosabale said the weekly was the most quoted English periodical in Parliament. Hosabale also pointed to its record during the Emergency period. Hosabale said Organiser faced the most impact at that time. Hosabale said its sister publication Motherland was shut down, and never restarted.
Organiser legacy and K R Malkani
Hosabale paid tribute to former editor K R Malkani and linked Malkani’s life to the paper’s journey. \"Malkani ji and Organiser cannot be separated. His life journey and the journey of Organiser cannot be separated.\" Hosabale said Malkani stood for ethics in public life and press freedom.
Hosabale recalled that Malkani was jailed during the Emergency. Hosabale said Malkani used Organiser to keep national issues in focus for long periods. Hosabale said these included the deaths of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Lal Bahadur Shastri in Tashkent, and Deendayal Upadhyaya at the Mughalsarai railway station.
Hosabale said Malkani ensured these matters stayed in public discussion over many editions. \"Malkani ji ran many ideological campaigns through Organiser. These important issues in our national life were pursued week after week. He made it a point that these issues would not go unheard,\" Hosabale said. Hosabale also called Organiser a voice of culture and dharmic values.
Hosabale congratulated the Organiser team for prioritising idealism over profit. Hosabale said the weekly has continued for eight decades despite pressures in the modern media environment. Hosabale also said Organiser should keep balancing its nationalist worldview with an independent role, while staying connected to public concerns and press freedom.
