Mulayam Singh's rape remark happens, says Dimple Yadav

, April 21: Days after Samajwadi Party chief

made the controversial 'rape' remark, his daughter-in-law

has come out and defended him saying that such remarks are made at times.

Dimple, wife of UP CM Akhilesh Yadav is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Kannauj, said that such comments are made by a lot of people and 'it happens at time.'

Yadav at a rally in Moradabad last week said that rape convicts being given capital punishment was wrong. He said: "They are boys , boys make such mistakes. That doesn't mean that you award them capital punishment," he said.

His comment had spaked a massive outrage among the political class as well as several women welfare groups, who criticised Yadav for his comment. Yadav had then come out and defended himself saying that the SP had done tremendous work for the women in the state.
